Amberlyn "Amber" Wellston was a character on ONtv's Harpers Falls: New Beginnings. She was played by G. Hannelius until the character's death by suicide.
A troubled teen[]
Born in Boston's Beacon Hill area, Amber was always self-assured, popular and bright. However, that fell into pieces after a scheming girl named Bethany Arthur told everyone that she didn't like the sound of Amber's voice. Thoroughly devastated after this callous slam, Amber went from cheerleading captain to a video game junkie, all due to a spiteful snob.
Her prospects for friendship perked up when one of her classmates, Violet Harper, a member of one of the most powerful families in all of Boston, became her best friend. Violet was very much an activist, and also kept up with her schoolwork. Amber felt a kinship with Violet and they became best friends.
Amber enjoyed Violet's company, but Vi's twin sister, Jennifer prefered the company of the vapid Bethany. However, that changed when Bethany went too far with her spite. She had manipulated Amber's brother, James, to use his electronics experience to tap into Jennifer's contact list, pluck her cousin, Dylan's number, and add it to her phone so she could harass the recently widowered young man by texting him viciously calling him a slut.
Upon discovering what he had done, James confessed to Dylan, who was furious. Even Jennifer, when she discovered what had happened, was furious and denounced Bethany. Amber swore that she would get even with the despicable Bethany for the pain she has caused.
Aside from her war with Bethany and her friendship with the Harper twins, Amber was a very talented dancer and cheerleader. It was speculated that she was to have received her Cheerleading captainship back after the discovery of Bethany's conniving, however, that was not to be. During a fight, Amber was shoved in front of an oncoming bus, but she grabbed Bethany too. Amber was injured, with Bethany screaming that she had tried to kill her, and wanted her arrested. An angry Violet stood up for Amber by slapping Bethany across the face, and causing Bethany to report Amber to the police, even though she was clearly lying.
Bethany and Amber went before a judge, and the judge found out that Amber had done nothing wrong. The case was settled with Bethany losing and being forced to have to pay for Amber's medical bills; and Bethany, infuriated that she had been decisively humiliated, warned Amber that she would make her life at school a living hell!
Amber was thrashed in school by a vengeful Bethany, which pushed her to shutting herself away from friends and family; and then at Christmas, she hung herself, after enduring too much bullying at the hands of Bethany. Upon hearing of her death, Bethany was absolutely gleeful.
